Steve Mignogna
Principal
This place is a beehive — but a comfortable one.
That’s the way we like it. I know it’s a cliché to put it this way, but we’re like a family here. We have each others’ backs. When someone needs a hand, someone always jumps in.
Is that something you encourage?
Yes. In fact, it’s part of my job to make it happen. Obviously as a principal of this firm I have a lot to do, including managing the general business and directing major projects. At the same time, I have specific responsibility for managing the Sequel experience, which means our culture, our environment, and recruitment of talent and customer satisfaction.
How did that mantle fall on your shoulders?
I guess I’m a natural. I like mentoring people, and I’m a good judge of character. It’s served us well in building this team.
How would you describe the team?
You mean, besides the fact we have very talented people? Everyone’s good at relationships, with clients and with each other.
What do you think is the number one rule of good working relationships?
Leave your ego at the door and put the client first — because that’s the way we work best as a team. Respect for each other is everything. We’re all here to get the job done. This extends to the way we deal with clients. We listen; we want to know what they think. They know their business — they’re the ally — and they can bring an awful lot to the table.
So you let them in?
There’s a reason why so many of our client relationships last for years. Clients tend to like us. They know that we’re in it for them, and they give us their most important work.
